Malaysian Astrological Society was first founded in 1966 as an unregistered organisation and was then known as "The Malayan Astrological Society". In September 1972, the society was officially registered and renamed "The Malaysian Astrological Society". The society is currently running its 36th year as a registered society (42 years since its origin in 1966).
Changes to Society’s Name
1993 - Renamed "Pertubuhan Ilmu Nujum Malaysia"
2008 - Changed to "Pertubuhan Astrologi Malaysia" with a New Constitution.
Objectives of Malaysian Astrological Society (MAS)
The main goals of the Society shall be to:
- Propagate, promote, study and to do research in astrological subjects.
- Establish classes and educate astrology and kindred subjects.
- Organise meetings, conferences, locally and at international level.
- Invite men of learning to teach astrology at meetings and conferences.
- Send representatives for meetings, conferences at international level.
- Publish Journals, newsletters, pamphlets, books and other literature.
- Assist students to go abroad to study astrology in universities.
- Award students and astrologers with certificates and other tokens
- To acquire its own building
Current Activities
The Society conducts talks, seminars and astrological classes on a regular basis. Since 2001, structured courses on Vedic Astrology in basic to intermediate levels were conducted. Each of these structured course programme was made up of 16 modules of classroom lectures, spread over a period of 13-14 months, classes held once a week of 2 hours each.
Due to its popularity and demand 8 such courses were conducted and the 9th is about to take off.
Besides astrology classes, comprehensive short courses on selected specialised topics at a more advanced level were also regularly held.
